And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone, Revelation 19:20

According to Revelation thirteen, there are three key players in end-times prophecy:  the dragon who is later identified as Lucifer or Satan, the first beast called the false Christ or antichrist and the second beast later called the false prophet.

John is describing his vision, “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon,” Revelation 13:11.

Clues:

He comes AFTER the false Christ (Antichrist)

“….And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth…And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast BEFORE him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed,”  Revelation 13:11-13.

“…and he had two horns…” Horns denote strength

“…like a lamb.”  When John the Baptist saw Jesus approaching he proclaimed, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"  Jesus is the lamb so this verse might imply that the false prophet will be a false Jesus.

“…Spake as a dragon…”  Revelation 13:11 The Holy Bible identifies who the dragon is, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him,” Revelation 12:9.

How does Satan speak?  Jesus scolds the Pharisees, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”  He is a liar.

(The false prophet) “And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.  And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.  And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Revelation 13:12-17.

The false prophet in other verses;

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet,  Revelation 16:13.

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone,  Revelation 19:20.

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever,  Revelation 20:10.

Two horns = Strength

Like a lamb = Like Jesus. A false Jesus?

Speaks as a dragon = A liar.

A deceiver, does miracles and great wonders, makes fire fall from heaven.

Makes an image to the beast (false Christ) and gives life to the image making it speak.

Kills those who do not worship the image of the beast.

Causes all to get a mark in their right hand or forehead with the beast’s name, number (666) or mark of his name in their right hand or forehead. No one can buy or sell without this mark.

Many people speculate on who this false prophet will be. Other religions have a similar prophecy. From Islam.org; the Imam Mahdi will be aided by Isa, their prophet Jesus.  They deny that Jesus is Allah’s son or died on a cross. 

“He comes to Jerusalem while the people pray the afternoon prayer and Imam is in front of them. Imam comes back, but Jesus prefers him and prays behind him according to the revealed law of Muhammad. Then he will kill the swine, break the crosses, destroy the churches and temples and kill the Christians unless they believe in him.”

Sounds like a pretty nasty guy if you ask me for Jesus Christ taught love not hate and to forgive those who hate you.

In the New Age movement, they are awaiting the Maitreya,  or the Christ, who will assist humankind in its rebirth. According to this doctrine, Maitreya is appearing as Christ to the Christians, as Krishna to the Hindus, as the Imam Madhi to the Muslims, and as the Bodhisattva to the Orient. They claim Maitreya the Christ will be aided by Master Jesus. From Share International website: 

“With the emergence of Maitreya, the Master Jesus is playing a major role for the second time. This open collaboration, which will be visible to all, will end any lingering doubts concerning the true relationship between Maitreya the Christ and his disciple, the Master Jesus…’

“…The Master Jesus will take over the throne of St Peter. He will not become the Pope, but the true apostolic succession will begin from that time.’

…he will try to raise the Christian churches out of their state of crystallization and rivalry and, if invited to do so, to lead a newly united church….”

Jesus told the believers over 2,000 years ago that in the last days many would come in his name and claim to be Christ,

 “…And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many,” Matthew 24:4-5. “…Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.  For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,” Matthew 24:26-27.
